Don’t wait for the other shoe to drop!
We’re moving into spring and increasingly a lot of special occasions are outdoors. And by the time we figure out what to wear, it’s easy to overlook our shoes—until the last minute.
My advice? Double check the venue. Will you be on grass? Pea gravel? Sand? Or hardscape?
Here are some true stories that show you what I mean:
It’s Senior Prom. There's my son's date. And on her feet are a fabulous pair of satin Christian Louboutin pumps (belonging to her mother, no less!) Little did she know that the pre-prom photos were to be taken on wet grass. One minute her shoes are in pristine condition. The next, destroyed! A very expensive mistake. Satin and wet grass don’t go well together.
A celebrity wedding just outside of Paris. Guests arrive at a spectacular chateau. Unbeknownst to most of the stylish crowd, they must navigate a long Pea Gravel driveway up to the festivities. Not exactly an easy task in spiked high heals! Not to mention the shredding damage that Pea Gravel can do.
Emmy night. My actress friend looks fabulous in a long chiffon gown. Small problem, though. Her sparkly studded shoes are snagging the hem of her gown with every step she takes.
So think about this when choosing just the right shoe for your next occasion. It’s not just what you're walking in, it’s what you’re walking on.
